Another sad day for all at Vindi Qld. This morning we farewelled our Pearly King, Vindi Boy 1947D George Edward Shepherd Ashby. George had just had his 86 years' old birthday the week he crossed the Bar. There was good attendance by Vindi Boys & Girls, friends and relatives and George's big family. (4 generations) George was a good supporter of Vindi Qld.
We will remember George as "old George, the Pearly King." We miss your cheery smile, laughs and jokes. Rest In Peace Old George!

Great to see us back aboard.

We had a very pleasant surprise to see Kimmy and Laurice at Circular Quay when we were on our way to board the Pacific Pearl for a 3 night trip up and down the NSW coast.

Brian Chaplin was spot on, the tucker was very good !

Hi all you ex Vindi boys, I completed my training in 1957 on deck, cant say I have fond memories, after all it wasn't supposed to be a holiday camp but glad I made it through to fulfil my desire of getting to sea. The sea time, trips to most parts of the world, exotic locations, wine women and song still fill my memory, a part of my life that's unforgettable. Visited OZ of course, who didn't? Never quite made the decision to emigrate but as it happened things have worked out quite well here in the U.K. I like your web site, nice to know Vindi Boys everywhere still band together to swing the lamp and partake in tea and tab nabs. My regards to you all and may we keep the Red Duster flying high. Rob.

Good luck to your new Vindicaterix website ,and the same to all your members and there familys. Nearly ended up spending my days in Sidney when we arrived 2 hours after the ship sailed after an all night party ashore ,after a hurried radio message to the ship we were ferried out to her where we lost a weeks pay .Not a good start to my life at sea ,first trip at the age of 16 it was all a great adventure ,53 years on would love to do it all again .Cheers from the UK
